Avoid Unintentional Exposure to Children –

If possible, do your Spring Cleaning while your children are asleep or away. If cleaning while children are around, always put cleaning products away when not in immediate use. Keep lids securely tightened and away when not in use. Immediately drain any bucket when not in immediate use.

Children spend the majority of their time on the floor. Be sure to use a vacuum with a HEPA filter or sonic cleaning technology to ensure your floors are clean from dirt, mold, pet dander, and other dangers.

Use Non-Toxic Carpet Cleaners –

Children can inhale the chemicals left behind after using powders and deodorizers for vacuuming or after shampooing your carpets.

Lock Up Cleaners –

The very products you use to clean your home can be toxic if your child ingests them. Always keep cleaning products out of reach of children and locked away.

Clean Toys –

Spring is the perfect time to disinfect and clean your child’s toys. The best way to clean baby toys is to scrub with soap and warm water. You can also sanitize after cleaning by using a sanitizing solution of t TBSP bleach with 1 quart of water, mixed and let air-dry. You can also wash plastic toys in dishwasher.

Inspect Toys –

This is a great time to discard toys with missing or broken pieces that could become a choking hazard.

Replace Automatically Closing Chests –

If you have a cedar hope, toy chest, storage bench or similar that automatically latches shut and/or lock, consider disabling or removing the lock or replacing to a safer unit. Kids like to hide in such chests which can result in strangling while it shuts or in suffocation while in the chest.

Inspect Window Treatments –
